Long Lashes for All!

Hi Beauty Queens,
I wanted to share with you the best and the last tip for 2011.
Last year I watched a video on You Tube about using vaseline on your eyelashes to make them grow.  So I tried it and I still  can not believe the results.  Im asked constantly if my lashes are fake.    Even my Dad commented my lashes last weekend.  What Dad notices your lashes, lol

How To:
Before bed use Vaseline or Vitamin E on lashes.  Remember you have to be consistent.  You will notice results within 2 months.  Your lashes will grow and your mascara will enhance your lashes even more.

Sleeping Beauty

After a hard night of partying make sure you wash your face.  Sleeping with your make up on is one of the worst things you can do.  To tired? Use makeup wipes or baby wipes.  Yes baby wipes works like a charm.

-Apply with lip brush.  This is great way to use till the last drop.

Several lipsticks broken?

Powder Power

Has oil dropped on your fabulous outfit?

I know it can be so annoying.   My best remedy is applying powder onto oil stain.

Steps:

Take powder, sprinkle on top of oil stain and press.

You will see powder start to cake.

Wait a couple of minutes and then scrap off.
This will instantly absorb oil.

***Works best if this can be done immediately.

Lash Out!

Psst...Giftcard works just as good.

What a nice problem to have... Your lashes are so long that when you apply mascara it hits your eyelids.  Leaving mascara spots where you don't want them.

A great trick is to use an old gift card as a mascara guard .  You use right behind lashes when you apply. Eyelids stay clear of mascara. Works every time! Another alternative is using the mascara guard shown which can cost up to $15.  I think I'll go with the gift card!  Use the money you will save on good mascara :).

Maskerade

When I was in high school I loved creating homemade masks.  So many different masks can be created just from opening your cabinets.  Who knew that I was already starting a good habits.

Masks should be used as a treatment once a week and cost pennies to make.  We all like to treat ourselves right?
Below are a few simple masks you can create at home:
Oily skin
Use some plain Milk of Magnesia, rub it on and let dry, then rinse with lukewarm water. Its an amazing oil absorber!  Who says its only for upset stomachs anyway?
Dry skin
Mix two egg yolks, 1 teaspoon of olive oil and one teaspoon of lemon. Spread mixture on a clean face, rinse off after ten minutes.
Normal Skin
Use warm cloth to open pores, smear on honey, leave on 15 to 30 minutes, rinse off with warm water, and then use cold water to close pores.

What's your GUILTLE$$ Beauty Secret?

Exfoliating Gloves 2.95-3.95

What's my guiltless beauty secret for soft, smooth, and glowing skin you ask ...well penciling in a spa treatment weekly of course! LOL, okay I'm waking up now.  The truth is I've been using exfoliating gloves for over 10 years now. They come in various colors for your liking; pink, green, blue, and white. You can find them pretty much any where. I usually pick mine up at Walmart or Target for about  $2.95 to $3.95 a pair.  I donn them on in the shower with my favorite body wash and scrub a dub dub away I rub all the dry dead skin off. Not only will it reveal soft and smooth skin but the act of rubbing and massaging increases circulation thus bringing nutrient to your skin. I would lightly dab off my body and apply moisturizer or body oil immediately after.

You want to know my trick for a closer and longer lasting shave....yes you do...I exfoliate first then shave. Exfoliating also aid in preventing ingrown hair. I also exfoliate before spray tanning, I find this gives me a more even application.  I routinely use exfoliating gloves 3-4 times a week.  I've even gotten the manly men in my life to use them. I try to get them blue ones of course but some times they just have to settle for pink:). Hope this help you beauty queens combat that dry and dull winter skin and be beach weather ready in no time!

GREAT TIP TRINH!  YOUR A REAL BEAUTY.

Handy Information

I had a very interesting conversation with a gentleman last weekend...

A beautiful girl entered the room.  I was convinced she was in her early twenties but the gentlemen guessed that she was about 35.  After chatting with the girl he was right.  I asked him how he knew He said her hands looked aged. Hmm interesting but makes sense.
Problem:
Our hands have the most exposure to the sun, water and harsh environments.  This can equal dryness, wrinkles, ages spots, etc.
Solution:

  • Use hand cream with sunscreen this will help combat wrinkles and age spots
  • Make sure to continuously moisturize your hands.
  • Pamper your hands with an at-home spa day.  My GUILTLE$$ Beauty favorite:  Olive oil and sugar which is pennies per use.  refer to Scrub a Dub Dub Posting for recipe.
  • Use rubber gloves when doing household chores.

Your hands can tell many secrets keep people guessing...

"You are what you eat"

Hello,
As we all know beauty is not just what we use on the outside its also what we put in our bodies.  Im a huge advocate of eating clean and exercising.  It makes me feel good and in the long run it saves me money on beauty products.  I will be adding food entries in this blog occasionally because I think its important to focus on what we are eating.
Enjoy XOXO, CAROLINE

Beauty Food:  Bananas
Bananas are excellent for keeping your skin glowing because of their high levels of vitamin C and keep your immune system strong.  The best thing is that they are cheap!
I have to tell you,  Im not a fan of overripe bananas. How many batches of banana bread can you make before you say enough is enough!   After awhile it gets old.
Best secret for over ripe bananas is put them in your freezer and using them in your fruit smoothie.  I got this idea from a friend years ago and have been doing it ever since.  Frozen bananas are excellent substitute to using ice so your smoothie will never be watered down.  We all know that smoothies are great for keeping our waistline down.  Try it, you will love it.

Life is Golden

My signature has always been big earrings.  I LOVE big hoops.   They are mysteriously sexy, exude confidence and they have effortless style.   I think they should be a staple in every girls accessory wardrobe.  You cannot beat a simple pair of gold or silver hoops.  I prefer gold!  However Im not crazy about about how they can tarnish after time.  Whats my secret?  Clear nail polish...

What you'll need: gold hoop earrings and clear nail polish

  • Apply one coat of clear nail polish to one side.  Wait to dry then flip over and repeat on the other side.

This is guaranteed to help with tarnishing.  By the way this trick works on all gold costume jewelry.

LEMON-AID

Lemons are one of the best kept beauty secrets.  They are extremely high in Vitamin C and  they are great for cleansing your skin, insides and fighting off colds.  I try to drink one cup of hot lemon juice each day to help keep my skin clear and help with digestion.  So before you use in your next iced tea consider these other options:

Here are my favorite lemon beauty secrets:

  • Rub lemon juice over the area of your face that has blackheads right before you go to bed at night. Rinse your face with cool water when you wake up. Repeat this procedure every night until blackheads are gone.

  • Rub a fresh lemon on your cuticles and heels paying close attention of the dry areas.  The lemon juice will help soften the dry area.  Leaving super soft.

  • Tired of yellow nails from nail polish? Dip nails into half a lemon to remove the unsightly yellow color.
  • Absorb lemon juice in a cotton ball and apply to acne prone areas.  This will help shrink your pores.

Scrub a Dub Dub

Im guilty of purchasing over priced body scrubs.  I'll use it maybe twice.  It sits on my shelf and ends up spoiling. What a waste! Now one of my favorite home beauty regimens is making my own natural scrubs.  You make it on your terms so there is no waste.  Scrubs are excellent for exfoliating dead skin cells leaving your skin glowing.
The recipe below cost almost pennies to create and comes straight from your kitchen.  Commercial scrubs can cost you up to $65.  Will not mention any names...

*Simple OLIVE OIL Body Scrub
What you will need:  olive oil and white sugar
-Take 2-3  tablespoons of white sugar and coat  with olive oil until it makes paste.  Rub over body.  You will be amazed of how smooth your skin feels.
*You can substitute white sugar for brown sugar or table salt :)

Just Browsing...

Need a cheap trick to help with keeping your eyebrows in place?
Tools:  hairspray and a toothbrush
Take toothbrush, spray with hairspray and simply brush eyebrows.  The hairspray will keep your brows in place.   Works amazing.
An eyebrow brush at Sephora can cost you up to $10 where as a toothbrush can cost you a buck.  I vote for the toothbrush.

Vaseline Queen

Vaseline is one of the most underestimated beauty products.  It has so many end uses costing you only pennies each time.  Best thing is that it lasts forever.  Vaseline was a staple in my house growing up.  My Mom used it for a lot of her beauty needs.  Even some of her fashion emergencies such as stubborn zippers.

I love Vaseline and use it daily.  Here are my top 10 uses!  (Don't worry guys some of these tips can work for you as well.)

Rub on the neck of your nail polishes bottles so they don't get stuck!  (Love this one)

-Use on your pulse points to help the staying power of your perfume or cologne.  Amazing!

-Protect hairline when using hair dye or a relaxer.

-Rub daily to get rid of dry cuticles.

Want an instant cream blusher?  Apply your favorite lipstick to your hand, mix with a little bit of vaseline.  Use on the apple of your cheeks for a dewy look.

-Unruly eyebrows? Dab a little on your eye brows and brush.

-Got a bald head? Use a little to give it a  bit of shine.

Want to turn your lipstick to a lipgloss?  Place vaseline over lipstick. Wala, the perfect lipgloss. Never to sticky. always just right.

-Dry feet?  Soften your feet by applying and wearing socks at night.  Cant sleep with socks?  Use during the day instead.  We all wear socks during the day right?  Both will give you amazing results.

-Works fantastic as a makeup remover.
