Mirror Mirror On the Wall...

Revlon Magnifeye 10x Tweezing Mirror with Bonus Slant Tip Tweezer

I think one of the best beauty inventions is a mini magnify mirror.  I have one in my make up bag and love using to pluck my eyebrows.  Its amazing what the you can see especially when you walk over to use the light from the window.  This mirror can tells ALOT of secrets especially when your in between waxings.

My pick is made by Revlon and its only $4.99!  Definitely worth it especially for those stubborn hairs that are hard to see.

Lash Out!

Psst...Giftcard works just as good.

What a nice problem to have... Your lashes are so long that when you apply mascara it hits your eyelids.  Leaving mascara spots where you don't want them.

A great trick is to use an old gift card as a mascara guard .  You use right behind lashes when you apply. Eyelids stay clear of mascara. Works every time! Another alternative is using the mascara guard shown which can cost up to $15.  I think I'll go with the gift card!  Use the money you will save on good mascara :).

Maskerade

When I was in high school I loved creating homemade masks.  So many different masks can be created just from opening your cabinets.  Who knew that I was already starting a good habits.

Masks should be used as a treatment once a week and cost pennies to make.  We all like to treat ourselves right?
Below are a few simple masks you can create at home:
Oily skin
Use some plain Milk of Magnesia, rub it on and let dry, then rinse with lukewarm water. Its an amazing oil absorber!  Who says its only for upset stomachs anyway?
Dry skin
Mix two egg yolks, 1 teaspoon of olive oil and one teaspoon of lemon. Spread mixture on a clean face, rinse off after ten minutes.
Normal Skin
Use warm cloth to open pores, smear on honey, leave on 15 to 30 minutes, rinse off with warm water, and then use cold water to close pores.

What's your GUILTLE$$ Beauty Secret?

Exfoliating Gloves 2.95-3.95

What's my guiltless beauty secret for soft, smooth, and glowing skin you ask ...well penciling in a spa treatment weekly of course! LOL, okay I'm waking up now.  The truth is I've been using exfoliating gloves for over 10 years now. They come in various colors for your liking; pink, green, blue, and white. You can find them pretty much any where. I usually pick mine up at Walmart or Target for about  $2.95 to $3.95 a pair.  I donn them on in the shower with my favorite body wash and scrub a dub dub away I rub all the dry dead skin off. Not only will it reveal soft and smooth skin but the act of rubbing and massaging increases circulation thus bringing nutrient to your skin. I would lightly dab off my body and apply moisturizer or body oil immediately after.

You want to know my trick for a closer and longer lasting shave....yes you do...I exfoliate first then shave. Exfoliating also aid in preventing ingrown hair. I also exfoliate before spray tanning, I find this gives me a more even application.  I routinely use exfoliating gloves 3-4 times a week.  I've even gotten the manly men in my life to use them. I try to get them blue ones of course but some times they just have to settle for pink:). Hope this help you beauty queens combat that dry and dull winter skin and be beach weather ready in no time!

GREAT TIP TRINH!  YOUR A REAL BEAUTY.

Handy Information

I had a very interesting conversation with a gentleman last weekend...

A beautiful girl entered the room.  I was convinced she was in her early twenties but the gentlemen guessed that she was about 35.  After chatting with the girl he was right.  I asked him how he knew He said her hands looked aged. Hmm interesting but makes sense.
Problem:
Our hands have the most exposure to the sun, water and harsh environments.  This can equal dryness, wrinkles, ages spots, etc.
Solution:

  • Use hand cream with sunscreen this will help combat wrinkles and age spots
  • Make sure to continuously moisturize your hands.
  • Pamper your hands with an at-home spa day.  My GUILTLE$$ Beauty favorite:  Olive oil and sugar which is pennies per use.  refer to Scrub a Dub Dub Posting for recipe.
  • Use rubber gloves when doing household chores.

Your hands can tell many secrets keep people guessing...

"You are what you eat"

Hello,
As we all know beauty is not just what we use on the outside its also what we put in our bodies.  Im a huge advocate of eating clean and exercising.  It makes me feel good and in the long run it saves me money on beauty products.  I will be adding food entries in this blog occasionally because I think its important to focus on what we are eating.
Enjoy XOXO, CAROLINE

Beauty Food:  Bananas
Bananas are excellent for keeping your skin glowing because of their high levels of vitamin C and keep your immune system strong.  The best thing is that they are cheap!
I have to tell you,  Im not a fan of overripe bananas. How many batches of banana bread can you make before you say enough is enough!   After awhile it gets old.
Best secret for over ripe bananas is put them in your freezer and using them in your fruit smoothie.  I got this idea from a friend years ago and have been doing it ever since.  Frozen bananas are excellent substitute to using ice so your smoothie will never be watered down.  We all know that smoothies are great for keeping our waistline down.  Try it, you will love it.

Life is Golden

My signature has always been big earrings.  I LOVE big hoops.   They are mysteriously sexy, exude confidence and they have effortless style.   I think they should be a staple in every girls accessory wardrobe.  You cannot beat a simple pair of gold or silver hoops.  I prefer gold!  However Im not crazy about about how they can tarnish after time.  Whats my secret?  Clear nail polish...

What you'll need: gold hoop earrings and clear nail polish

  • Apply one coat of clear nail polish to one side.  Wait to dry then flip over and repeat on the other side.

This is guaranteed to help with tarnishing.  By the way this trick works on all gold costume jewelry.
